Yesterday, I came across with a very important piece by Pascal Lottaz. Pascal hosts the Neutrality Studies podcast, which I’ve visited for few times. He interviewed Dr. Nicolai Petro, a Professor of Political Science at the University of Rhode Islands in the U.S., on the situation in Ukraine. He leaves us with a baffling conclusion:
Ukraine’s greatest challenge may not be defeating Russia, but stabilizing itself from within. Even if the war ends, the presence of well-armed and radical nationalist groups threatens to turn the country into a battleground of internal strife. The government’s inability to control these factions raises the specter of a prolonged internal crisis—one that could prevent Ukraine from ever achieving true peace.
Have you heard anything of this sort mentioned in the mainstream media? (Me neither.) Here’s another passage:
Petro emphasizes that these far-right nationalist factions are not merely fringe elements but are well-armed and deeply entrenched within Ukraine’s power structures. They have, time and again, demonstrated their ability to derail political decisions through intimidation and violence. He points to the Minsk Agreements as a prime example—both President Petro Poroshenko and President Volodymyr Zelensky initially pursued peace negotiations, only to backtrack under pressure from nationalist groups that refused to accept any compromise with Russia.
This is just a nice way of saying that fascist factions run Ukraine. This also implies that President Putin was right, when he argued for de-nazification of Ukraine as one motive for the Special Military Operation (SMO) he launched to Ukraine.
I did not believe any of President Putin’s arguments of neo-fascist (neo-Nazis) running Ukraine at the start of the war. Not for a second. I simply knew too much on Russian history, psyops Russians had been subjected under and the lies Kreml has used to control them especially during the Soviet times. And so, when I read Pascal’s piece, it was like a bombshell. One more lie of the western media, I grew to trust, exposed. Unbelievable.
The analysis of Dr. Petro has some serious ramifications for the peace process in Ukraine. Its direct implication is that as long as the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) stand, there most likely cannot be a lasting peace. This is because, like Dr. Petro states, “If Kyiv were to move toward a negotiated settlement, nationalist militias could seek to overthrow the government, plunging the country into internal chaos”. This, quite straight-forwardly implies that the road to sustained peace in Ukraine requires that AFU is pushed into surrender. We can take guidance to this from Finland after our two wars with the Russians (Soviet Union).
When Finland capitulated after our Continuation War, a de facto part of Operation Barbarossa, the Allied monitoring mission was established to ensure that Finland followed peace agreement signed in Moscow on 19 September. The monitoring mission was led by Colonel General Andrei Ždanov, who entered Finland in October, 1944. The interim peace agreement included heavy terms:
A loss of 12% of our land mass, including the Karelian Peninsula.
Arrest and termination of all fascists and anti-Soviet people and organizations.
Cutting all diplomatic ties to (Nazi) Germany and interning of all German and Hungarian citizens and their assets.
Expelling foreign (German) troops from our soil (this forced a war against Wehrmacht in northern Finland).
Commitment to bring individuals charged with war crimes into court in co-operation with the Allied forces.
War reparations worth of $300 million (close to 6.8 billion in current USD).
I think that accomplishing something like this is the only option for peace in Ukraine remaining. That is, full ‘Finlandization’ with strong anti-fascist and de-militarization policies. Otherwise, Ukraine is likely to succumb into a bloody internal conflict and, in the worst-case, a civil war. You may of course disagree with my analysis, but if you do, please provide a view of through what other means can you bring peace into a country, which has the characteristics Dr. Petro outlines.
Pax paritur bello,
Tuomas

Hi tuomas.
Interesting article.
I have never believed the western narrative contradicting russias allegations of the existence of nazi groups in Ukraine.
It would be enlightening to research a book detailing the evolution on nazism from the start of ww2 to the present. Their political arm, their shadow arm and their military arm. Who are the know players now, what are their current functions and what are their ideological beliefs. Have the modern beliefs transmute into something different that the original ideologies 100 yrs ago.
I have strongly stated that the Ukraine will be a recruitment hot bed of revengeful terrorists against the west consider what a pack of lies and manipulation they were subjected to especially juxtaposed with the loss of life and quality of living that has diminished from the war.
