I just haven't been that everything end in nuclear annihilation. maybe just false hope on my side... but I have to point out, that for the whole time I do not see a smaller scale nu explosions as unlikely...
I think both scenarios have already been put in motion. We can daily hear about plans for almost "war statate economy" in Europe and there are noticable tensions in Moldavia and some other former Soviet Union teritories:
