I have been of mostly the same opinion from the very start, even from 2014... I was also wondering why the RU had been waiting for so long to react... I just haven't been that everything end in nuclear annihilation. maybe just false hope on my side... but I have to point out, that for the whole time I do not see a smaller scale nu explosions as unlikely...

your predictions, unfortunately, sound very realistic, buy the question is, what if anything at all, can we do to save ourselves/our closest...

are they already buiding (new) bases in Finland?

NATO is escalating by, e.g., building military bases right next to Russian border in Finland

I think both scenarios have already been put in motion. We can daily hear about plans for almost "war statate economy" in Europe and there are noticable tensions in Moldavia and some other former Soviet Union teritories:

Two scenarios rise above others:

A re-armament race that eats through Russian economic resources, leading the country to collapse from inside out, similarly to what happened to the Soviet Union in the late-1980s.

Major conflicts in the neighbouring regions (Abkhazia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, etc.), destabilizing large parts of Russia
